Last weekend Yahoo! took three of the most popular sports cars on the market out for a spin, in order to determine which one would come out on top.
The biggest feedback their test gave was that the Mazda MX-5 RF “nailed” the sleek, elegant look expected of a sports car, whereas the others seemed to fall at this all-important hurdle. They note that the model “certainly garnered the most attention from other road users, turning many a head and attracting numerous knowing nods of approval”. In contrast, the Porsche Cayman got a different reception, receiving “unsavoury gestures and exclamations that aren’t really fit for print”, and the Toyota was “just a bit beige”.
They couldn’t help but notice that “next to the Mazda, the Toyota is also fairly difficult to recommend”, as it is “nowhere near as good looking” and “also more expensive”.
“At the end of the day, there can only be one winner in this triple test: the Mazda MX-5 RF. Not only is it hugely fun to drive and incredibly pretty, it’s also the cheapest car here and it has a convertible roof. Not much more needs to be said other than that, really.”
